Meet Sonya Trippett

I am the Owner/Publisher of Elite Investigative Journal and Forensic News Journal . I am the Creator/Executive Producer of the TV Series Saairah Global News which airs on Comcast channel 66 and on Verizon FIOS 29. I am the Owner/Host of Saairah Talk Radio on IHeart Radio, iTunes and more. All of these project focus on topics about the Investigative Industry and are supported by industry professionals, students who are currently going to school pursuing a profession in the Investigative field and enthusiast who enjoy learning about various types of investigative knowledge. People always ask me how did I come to get involved with Investigations and I kind of laugh because if you think about it we are always some how involved with the Who, What, When, Why and How? because in life we ask these questions everyday on various levels. I stared working as an Investigative Researcher helping a Private Investigator find criminals who were evading process service. I have to admit it is a very challenging job but it can be very dangerous too. After that experience I became interested in expanding my knowledge with the investigative field and this is how I came to create these platforms to provide a way for others who have and interest like myself to learn and maybe even find a profession they may love in this field.

What is the name of your current project / company?

Elite Investigative Journal

Please describe for us in 1 sentence your current project.

Elite Investigative Journal is an innovative bi-monthly digital journal that has trending information that everyone, whether in the investigative field or not, can relate to and enjoy.

Where did the idea of your current project come from?

I previously worked in the Investigative field and wanted to create a place to teach and encourage people who are interested in learning about investigative work that they have a place to share ideas and learn from industry professionals.

Why do you do what you do?

I love helping people! This is who I am! I strive everyday to educate and encourage others to be the best that they can be and to not let set backs, failures, negativity from others stop you from accomplishing your dreams. You are going to go through a lot when you are striving to be better and when you are helping others to be great. I fight everyday to ensure that I am providing excellence in this great work and in my own life. If you are up to the challenge and you have strong determination you will succeed and this is why I do what I do.

What’s the one thing you wish you could go back and tell your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to not let your failure weigh down on your soul. One of the most difficult things that can cause you to give up is starting something, putting all of your heart into it and it fails. I would say to myself “Why are you so sad, You just learned a valuable lesson and will never make that same mistake again” It is important to understand it is only through failure that you will eventually be lead to true success.

What’s the most important piece of advice would you give to someone just starting?

If you are just starting out you should do your homework. What I mean by this is for you to research what ever business venture that you are pursuing. It is important to have as much information about your business as possible so that you can make informed decisions about the direction you want to go right away. You must follow your gut instinct with matters of decision making and how you utilize your money.

What is the hardest thing you have had to do regarding your business?

The hardest thing I have had to do is the sacrifice of time. it is very difficult to be out with friends and have lots of fun when you are an entrepreneur. You give up a lot of moments with your family and friends that you can not get back. But it is important for you to structure your life so that you don’t lose out on wonderful memories with your loved ones.

What does your typical day look like?

My day begins with looking at the sky watching it turn from night to day I think it is so relaxing and awesome at the same time. After that I am ready for the emails, phone calls, social media and meeting that I have set up for the day. My day is filled with ensuring that my team and myself are prepared for everything we have scheduled and that things run smoothly.

If you were to start again, and could change one thing, what would it be?

If I were to start again, I honestly would not change a thing. I taught myself how to run this business and I learned a lot. I enjoyed the process and I am proud of myself for taking on something so big and making it a success.

What is the most important thing in life?

I feel the most important thing in life is family because your family are everything. Owning and running a business can be very difficult and you can end up feeling alone but if you can have joy in your life it makes everything worth while. Your love ones make it possible for you to get through the most difficult times of your life. Never take them for granted because you need them just as much as they need you.

What is one problem you encountered as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

As an entrepreneur I have faced issues people trying to take my business from me. One thing that you have to be careful of is people coming into your life by wanting to be involved with your business. They usually want to participate and are eager to help you in anyway but all the while their motive is to gather as much information and take your ideas and form an identical business like yours. When that happened to me I just regrouped and enhanced what I had already created while adding new ideas to what I had already started. You have to be innovative when you are in business there are people who will always do things like this but you have to get beyond your emotions of anger and use your ingenuity and creativity while thinking outside of the box.

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I am very determined and a hardworking person. I have a dog and a rabbit that I care about very much and I like playing video games and I am a tech so I can refurbish and build computers from bare bones.
